An invitation to pray
We read in Scripture:
“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up” (Ps 5:3).
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near” (Is 55:6).
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matt 7:7-8).
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7).
“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess 5:17).
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (Jas 5:16 NKJV).
Throughout His Word God invites His children to pray and to seek His face. He encourages us to bring our needs and burdens to Him because He loves us and wants to show forth His power and grace by answering our prayers.
What is the “secret sauce” of Providence Classical Christian School?
Is it a smart and capable faculty? Is it the riches of the classical tradition? Is it abundant wealth? Or is it our uber-talented and beautiful children?
God has indeed given us all these things, and yes, we are immensely thankful for them. And we believe together that great things will result from faithfully obeying God in the matter of our children’s Christian education.
However, the secret sauce of our school is none of these things. In fact, the success of our school is not the direct result of our talent or resources or attractiveness or obedience, or anything else about us for that matter.
It’s prayer. The prayers of the people: parents and grandparents, teachers, administrators, students. God is blessing our school because He loves to answer our prayers. He is abundantly gracious, and He always keeps His promises through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
So, parents, I urge you to pray diligently, as I know that so many of you do so faithfully. It is a great blessing of our school family to hear from so many parents that they are praying for me and for our faculty and for our students and for other Providence families.
At Back to School Night we handed out a Back to School Prayer Guide, and I can think of no better way to encourage you to pray than simply to repeat here the petitions we included in that guide. Please pray, parents, and I hope these requests can help you put those prayers into words.
